As the former Academic Dean of the Christian Life School of Theology in Columbus, Georgia—founded by Dr. Ron Cottle and together with him serving thousands of students across the United States and internationally in the 1990s—I am well-prepared to design a Biblical training resource for those that desire to "study to show themselves approved unto God."
The Legacy School of Ministry, is completely tuition-free, and offers a range of online mini-modules. These modules are purely for learning—no tests, grades, certificates, diplomas or degrees—just top-notch instruction from a diverse lineup of teachers from across the globe. Check out our Statement of Faith in the School Catalog to get a sense of our overall theological perspective.
The school offers mini-modules ( 90 minutes or less) as the parts of its Biblical and Theological Studies program, featuring courses in six divisions: Old Testament Theology, New Testament Theology, Biblical Theology, Practical Theology, Christian Counseling, and Leadership Theology.
PLEASE NOTE: The following modules are part of a diverse curriculum organized into the school’s six divisions. Many are excerpts from a larger resource available from the school. For more resources from a specific module, contact Thomas Hale.
Biblical Theology is the discipline that traces the progressive revelation of God’s truth as it unfolds through the storyline of Scripture. It seeks to understand each passage, book, and era of the Bible in its own historical context while also showing how all of Scripture fits together to reveal God’s redemptive plan centered in Jesus Christ.
Christian Counseling is the practice of helping individuals, couples, and families address emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges through biblically grounded principles, guided by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, and informed by sound counseling methods.
Leadership Theology is the study of how God shapes, calls, equips, and governs leaders according to the teachings of Scripture, the example of Jesus Christ, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit. It explores the biblical foundations, spiritual character, and servant‑oriented practices that define leadership within the Kingdom of God.
New Testament Theology is the study of God’s revelation as it is expressed in the writings of the New Testament, examining the teachings of Jesus, the apostles, and the early church to understand the meaning, message, and mission of the gospel in its original historical context and its unified witness to Christ.
Old Testament Theology is the study of God’s revelation as it unfolds through the writings of the Old Testament, examining its historical contexts, covenantal structures, and theological themes to understand how God’s character, purposes, and redemptive plan are revealed prior to the coming of Christ.
Practical Theology is the disciplined study of how Christian beliefs, biblical truth, and the work of the Holy Spirit are lived out in the real practices of the church and the daily life of believers. It is theology in action: faith expressed in life, ministry, and community.
This section is a growing archive of books, teaching notes, study guides, and historical documents available as downloadable PDFs. These resources help preserve and support the ministry training offered through the school. Some materials connect directly to the school’s video modules, while others serve as supplemental or historical resources for deeper study.
